The Wind in The Willows: Flame Tree Collectable Classics
Autor Kenneth Grahame Contribuţii de Judith Johnen Limba Engleză Hardback – 14 sep 2021
Kenneth Grahame’s treasured and perennially popular The Wind in the Willows follows the adventures of Mole, Rat, Toad and Badger as they spend their time ‘simply messing about in boats’, getting lost in the Wild Wood and getting Toad out of scrapes. The endearing characters, evocatively idyllic setting of the gentle Thames Valley and the message of friendship make this an enduringly heart-warming tale.
The FLAME TREE COLLECTABLE CLASSICS are chosen to create a delightful and timeless home library.

Notă biografică
Though born in Edinburgh, Kenneth Grahame (1859–32) moved, along with his siblings, to Cookham Dean, Berkshire, at the age of 5 to live with his grandmother after his mother died and his father (who had a drink problem) was unable to care for them. It is here that Grahame was introduced to the riverside and boating, no doubt providing inspiration for the evocative setting of the bedtime stories that he later told his son Alastair and which led to his famous novel, The Wind in the Willows (1908).

The Wind in the Willows is a book for those 'who keep the spirit of youth alive in them; of life, sunshine, running water, woodlands, dusty roads, winter firesides.'
Recenzii
• "It is a book that breaks nearly every rule of modern children's fiction... it wasn't about fairies at the bottom of the garden, but it was about magic -- just the right kind of magic. It thrills me still to read it." --Shirley Hughes, The Times

But reading about Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger runs it a close second." -- Michael Morpurgo "People think of it as a children's book, but that's not all it is. What seared my imagination was its surrealism. The rat, the mole and badger could talk, but they could also change size: a badger could crawl down a rat hole, a toad could drive a car. At nine or 10 that fascinated me and that made a deep impression on my career" -- Terry Pratchett Independent on Sunday "A book about the love of friends and the joys of existence" Sunday Times "I loved Toad of Toad Hall and his merry antics, especially with his motor car - poop poop!" -- Kenneth Branagh Daily Express
