Maria Nastasia a dat nota:

While reading Anne of Avonlea, I didn't find myself asking any such questions or looking forward to anything. The book didn't seem to be leading up to anything as far as Anne was concerned. It read more like a series of situations involving Anne while the actual "story" was happening to another character named Miss Lavender. Marilla adoped twins in this one and Montgomery focused so much on the boy, Davy, that I couldn't help but wonder why she bothered to write in his twin sister Dora at all. Anne basically felt like a "passing of time" for Anne. I kept waiting for something to happen to her but it just didn't. I'd still like to continue with the series to see how things progress. Even though Anne of Avonlea didn't quite meet my expectations I found it a charming read and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Anne of Green Gables. It was nice to visit the old beloved characters again.

Maria Nastasia a dat nota:

These books have a special place in my heart now I can definitely see these being ones that I will reread over and over again as I get older! :D Like I've said before, the characters are just what makes these books so great to me! We got to meet some new ones in this one...Captain Jim, Miss Cornelia, and Leslie Moore are a few I was surprised by how much development Leslie's character went through in the story and I just enjoyed seeing her grow. I loved getting to see Anne and Gilbert as husband and wife of course too! It is getting much harder now to try and pick a favorite Anne book, but for right now I think this one and Anne of the Island are tied and the very first one is my second favorite!

Notă biografică

The best-known works by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery OBE, also known by her pen as L M Montgomery (November 30, 1874 - April 24, 1942), include a number of novels, essays, short tales, and poems that began with Anne of Green Gables in 1908. Along with 530 short stories, 500 poems, and 30 articles, she also authored 20 novels. The novel Anne of Green Gables was an instant hit, and the titular character, the orphan Anne Shirley, helped make Lucy Maud Montgomery famous and earned her a global following. The majority of the novels were set in Prince Edward Island, and those parts of Canada's tiniest province-specifically, Green Gables farm, which served as the inspiration for Prince Edward Island National Park-became literary landmarks and well-liked tourist destinations. In 1935, she received the title of officer of the Order of the British Empire. Scholars and readers from all over the world have read and studied Montgomery's writings, journals, and correspondence. The University of Prince Edward Island's L. M. Montgomery Institute is in charge of doing academic research into L. M. Montgomery's life, works, culture, and influence. On November 30, 1874, Lucy Maud Montgomery was born in Clifton, Prince Edward Island (now New London).
